Ok, now you can call me a “hipster”. But, know that I FOUND these in MY OLD STUFF. This is actually my old cassette player and a couple of cassettes that I found with it. Now, I need to hunt down all my old Mix-tapes. The cassette labeled “Our Shit” apparently used to have MSC recordings on it. But, now has: Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil, Five Iron Frenzy, Less than Jake, the Lawrence Arms, the Broadways, and… I don’t even know what else.
Less Than Jake - “All My Friends Are Metal Heads”
Punk music, underground music in general, used to have positive messages. The punk scene used to be a family. Now, it blows. Thanks for that.
Do you think its strange,
That there’s a way of how you look at,
How you act,
And how you think,
Pretend they’re not the same as you
Did you know about his
Strength of convictions
Or how she puts all her
Faith in religion?
Did we take the time to
Really discover how little we
Know about each other?
Keep us from saying anything,
Cant separate from everything.
And all this really means you’re one
In a crowd and your paranoid of every sound
Another friend you wont miss anyhow
Less Than Jake - “Losing Streak”
The first CD I ever bought. I think I picked it up when I was in 7th grade (around 1997). I remember sitting outside the mall waiting for my parents to come pick me up. I read the whole album booklet in that period. There’s a hidden track on the CD! I didn’t find until like… 4 years ago.
Fucking Classic
Less Than Jake - “She’s Gonna Break Soon”
(technically this song isn’t “ska” as the tag below suggests. the presence of horns does not mean the song is ska. But, the band, as a whole, is a ska-punk band. hence, the tag.)
Less Thank Jake - “I Think I Love You”
I’m sleeping and right in the middle of a good dream
When all at once I wake up
From something that keeps knocking at my brain
Before I go insane
I hold my pillow to my head and spring up in my bed
Screaming out the words I dread,
I think I love you
This morning I woke up with this feeling
I didn’t know how to deal with
And so I just decided to myself
I’d hide it to myself
And never talk about it
And didn’t I go and shout it when you walked into the room,
I think I love you
I think I love you so what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for.
I think I love you
Isn’t that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say that I’ve never felt this way.
Believe me, you really don’t have to worry
I only want to make you happy,
And if you say,”Hey go away” I will, but I think better still,
I better stay around and love you.
“Do you think I have a case?”, let me ask you to your face.
I think I love you
I think I love you so what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for.
I think I love you
Isn’t that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say that I’ve never felt this way.
I don’t know what I’m up against.
I don’t know what it’s all about.
I got so much to think about, yeah
I think I love you so what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for.
Do you think you love me?
I think I love you
I think I love you
I think I love you
